Mission and Vision

The mission and vision statements of The Arc of Story County were developed by The Board of Directors and are reviewed annually by The Arc board and staff. The mission and vision statements help guide the actions of The Arc and spell out the overall goals, providing a sense of direction and guidance in decision making. 

Mission Statement


The Arc of Story County strives to enrich the lives of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they learn, work, play, and grow within the community. Through advocacy and services we will support persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

 

Vision Statement

 

The Arc of Story County will be the recognized leader in inspiring the community to advocate for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

          Advocate (v) - speaking in favor of a cause

          Advocate (n) - one who supports or defends a cause; one who pleads on another's behalf

          Advocacy (n) - active support (as of a cause)

 

 

The Arc of Story County is listed on The Iowa Register of Accountability

The Iowa Register of Accountability, which appears on the website of the Lerned A. Waterman Iowa Nonprofit Resource Center, is a listing of nonprofit organizations that have committed themselves to sound management, ethical conduct, public accountability and continuous improvement by using the Iowa Principles and Practices for Nonprofit Excellence. The Principles and Practices, which were developed by the Iowa Governor's Nonprofit Task Force to demonstrate Iowa nonprofit organizations' concerted efforts toward efficient, effective and ethical operations have been unanimously endorsed and and adopted by The Arc of Story County Board of Directors.
